  • Senator Jeff Bingaman spoke on Social Security and the Central America Free Trade   Agreement (CAFTA).

  • Eleven Amendments were passed to the Constitution of the New Mexico Federation   of Labor, AFL-CIO.

  • The following Resolutions were passed:

  1. The addition of the State Association of Retiree Council as an affiliate represented by a Vice President of the Executive Board.

  2. Resolution of Support and Solidarity with AFSCME State, City, and County Employees.

  3. Resolution of Endorsement for the Wake-up Wal-Mart Campaign. 

  4. Resolution to apply union power to renewable energy development and  energy  efficiency. 

  5. Resolution opposing Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA). 

  6. Resolution supporting Living Wage. 

  7. Resolution supporting Labor Solidarity. 

  8. Resolution on Immigrant Workers. 

  9. Resolution to repay Social Security Trust Fund and reject privatization. 

  10. Resolution of Solidarity with Albuquerque Teachers Federation (ATF). 

  11. Resolution against purchasing World Bank Bonds. 

  12. Resolution opposing War with Iraq.

  • Christine Trujillo was re-elected President, New Mexico Federation of Labor, AFL- CIO.

  • Michelle Gutierrez won election for Secretary-Treasurer of New Mexico Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO; defeating incumbent José V. Atencio, Jr..

  • The following have won election/re-election to Vice President Positions:

  • Kathy Chavez—American Federation of Teachers-New Mexico (AFT-NM)

  • Anthony Marcus—American Federation of Federal, State, County, & Municipal Employees (A.F.S.C.M.E.)

  • Sean Altamirano—Communications Workers of America (C.W.A.)

  • Jerry Romero—International Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Ironworkers (I.A.B.S.O.I.W.)

  • Beverly McMullen—International Association of Machinists (I.A.M.)

  • Chris Frentzel—International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.)

  • Robert Aubert—International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (I.U.P.A.T.)

  • Fidel Muñoz—Laborers International Union of North America (L.I.U.N.A.)

  • Narcisco Mascarenez—Operative Plasters and Cement Masons’ International Association (O.P. & C.M.I.A.)

  • Richie Howles—Sheet Metal Workers International Union (S.M.W.A.)
